Ride collapses at Jetpur funfair in Rajkot, two critically injured

A major accident occurred at the annual Diwali funfair in Jetpur on Friday evening when a ‘Break Dance’ ride suddenly collapsed mid-operation, leaving two people seriously injured.

According to reports, the victims identified as Dhaval Mandali and his wife Gayatri Mandali sustained critical injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Panic spread among visitors as the ride broke down, causing chaos at the venue.

Police reached the spot soon after being informed, shut down the funfair, and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Authorities are also examining whether the event had proper permissions and if safety and maintenance standards for the rides were followed.

The incident has drawn parallels with the 2019 Kankaria tragedy in Ahmedabad, where a pendulum ride named Discovery snapped, killing two people and injuring 29 others.
