Mehsana Congress leader recruited as BJP member in Gujarat

Updated: Oct 10th, 2024

Former secretary of the Mehsana Congress was made a primary member of the BJP, as mentioned in a message received on his mobile phone regarding membership registration.

The BJP’s membership recruitment drive is underway and is already facing a lot of backlash from the people as the BJP workers are using various tactics to trick people into registering for the membership..

According to a complaint filed by Natuji Thakor, Mehsana’s former Congress secretary, a BJP worker named Dasrash Patel informed him that he would receive a message on his mobile related to Congress membership. Thakor said that he was misled into providing an OTP (One-Time Password) for what he thought was for his Congress membership.

Thakor further said that he received a call from the BJP on October 1, at 10.05 pm, during which he was prompted to verify his mobile number.

Upon checking his mobile, he found a message indicating that he had become a primary member of the BJP.

In response to this registration, Thakor has filed a complaint to BJP requesting that his membership with the BJP should be revoked immediately. He has also warned of legal action if the membership is not cancelled.

This is not the first instance where someone was made a BJP member without their consent. Instances such as a man at a ration shop being registered as a BJP member have also been reported.

Another troubling incident occurred at a hospital in Visnagar, where a patient was asked to provide an OTP under the pretext that it was necessary for receiving an injection, only to find out later that the OTP was used to register him as a BJP member without his consent.
