Rajkot man held under POCSO for abusing minor daughter

A disturbing case has been reported in Gujarat from the Upleta area of Rajkot district, where a disabled man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his minor daughter over several years, police said.

According to the complaint, the accused is alleged to have repeatedly abused his 15-year-old daughter, with the offences continuing for nearly four years. The matter came to light after the victim, unable to endure the abuse any longer, approached the Upleta police station and disclosed the allegations against her father.

Police said the minor had refrained from reporting the abuse earlier due to fear of social stigma and defamation. Officials also noted that the girl’s mother has been suffering from cancer, a circumstance that allegedly enabled the accused to continue the abuse unchecked.

Following the complaint, the police immediately arrested the accused and registered a case under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. 

Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
