Rajkot firing: Wife dies after husband shoots her over alleged affair

The woman who was critically injured in a firing incident at Samet Shikhar Apartment on Jamnagar Road on Saturday has succumbed to her injuries. Trushaben Padhiya (39) died during treatment, two days after her husband Laljibhai shot her and then killed himself.

According to police, Lalji suspected that his wife had an affair with her nephew, Vishal Gohel. The couple had been arguing over this for nearly three years, with tensions escalating in the last three months. Due to constant disputes, Trusha had moved out of her home and was staying with her cousin Pooja Soni for the past six weeks.

On Saturday morning, Trushaben and Pooja returned from the gym when they saw Lalji waiting in the apartment parking area. He confronted Trusha, leading to a heated argument and a physical scuffle. Moments later, Lalji pulled out his licensed pistol. Pooja fled the scene as he fired multiple rounds at his wife before killing himself.

Police said he fired five bullets, while a sixth round was found jammed in the chamber. The weapon, licensed in 2017, has been seized and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. Investigations into the incident are underway.
