Sarkhej police had received a tip-off that Lounge Casanova, a restaurant located near the Taj Hotel, ran a hookah bar under the guise of food and drinks.

Based on this, the police conducted a raid and caught 32 people smoking hookah there.

Upon questioning the owner of the lounge, Pinkesh Patel, and the manager, the police learned that Pinkesh and two other individuals, Rajdeep Soni and Kamlesh Bagda, ran the restaurant in partnership.

Sarkhej police inspector (PI) RK Dhulia said that nicotine-based flavours were being added to herbal flavours and given to customers, in return for which a higher amount was being charged than normal.

The police have seized a large quantity of hookah and various flavours from the spot and have initiated further investigation into the matter.

Recently, the Ahmedabad prevention of crime branch (PCB) uncovered an illegal hookah bar operating under the guise of a cafe at Bopal’s Big Daddy Cafe on Apr 3.
