Hookah Bar in Bopal cafe

As the city gets engulfed in an extensive cafe culture, a major bust made by the Ahmedabad Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) at Bopal’s Big Daddy Cafe uncovers an illegal hookah bar operating under the guise of a cafe.

The raid led to the seizure of various nicotine-flavoured hookah flavours and equipment. The police have initiated action against the cafe manager.

On the evening of April 3, PCB Police Inspector (PI) MC Chaudhary and his team received intel regarding a large number of youngsters being invited to an illegal hookah bar operating at the cafe, located near Vince Cafe on Bopal VIP Road. Based on this, the raid was conducted.

Bhavin Patel, a Shilaj resident, was running the hookah bar under the guise of a cafe. He was also reportedly operating the cafe without obtaining any licences necessary.

As hookah bars are banned in Ahmedabad, Patel was charging his customers three times the regular rate for consuming hookah.

During the raid, several people were found smoking hookah in a special zone within the cafe.

The police seized 146 packets of various hookah flavours, 37 hookahs, 28 foil-wrapped chillums, and pipes from the scene.

Further investigation in the matter has been initiated.
