AMC seals kitchen of Ahmedabad’s luxurious hotel

The customer claimed that his soup contained insects

One of the posh areas of Ahmedabad, Ashram Road, is home to various luxurious hotels the prices of stay for which go as high as ₹6000–9000 per day. One such hotel, Fairfield by Marriott, witnessed a shocking lapse in food hygiene, prompting AMC (Amdavad Municipal Corporation) to seal its kitchen.

According to Dr Bhavin Joshi, additional health manager at AMC, a customer who visited the Fairfield by Marriott Hotel complained about receiving spoiled food.

The customer claimed that his soup contained insects.

Taking swift action after the complaint, AMC’s food department team reached the hotel on the night of Mar 31 and checked the kitchen premises.

The team witnessed a breach of food safety rules in the kitchen and sealed it until the submission of a pest control document.
