Parshottam Rupala clarifies his Delhi visit and other speculations

Rupala also clarified that Mohan Kundaria was to fill out the form as a dummy and not as a candidate

Updated: Apr 1st, 2024

Tables turned for the BJP in Gujarat when one of its prominent union ministers, Parshottam Rupala, became embroiled in a controversy over caste politics in Saurashtra.

Breaking his silence on speculations about his summons to New Delhi’s BJP headquarters, he emphasised that his visit to the capital is a mere ministry affair and no one has summoned him.

“I will visit Delhi on Apr 3 and will stay there for some days concerning the work of the central government,” said Rupala.

Moreover, amid the protests by the Kshatriya community, Rupala said that every community has the right to protest and the right to express themselves.

Rupala also clarified that Mohan Kundaria was to fill out the form as a dummy and not as a candidate.

On the other hand, the state intelligence bureau (IB) has initiated an investigation and will furnish a report soon.

As the Kashatriya community has demanded cancellation of Rupala’s ticket from Rajkot seat, the IB will investigate at local level.

As the uproar of the Kshatriya community against the BJP, which is rooted in Rajkot, has reached across the state, a tight watch will be kept on social media.

The IB has been instructed to monitor the programmes organised by the Kshatriya community and social media following the comments of Rupala by the BJP in all the districts after receiving reports of negative impact in the elections.
