Updated: Oct 26th, 2024

Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested a suspected Pakistani spy in Porbandar. The individual was allegedly gathering intelligence on maritime security agencies, including the Coast Guard. He is currently being interrogated, and further information is awaited.

The arrested suspect, identified as Pankaj Kotiya, has reportedly been passing confidential information about the Indian Coast Guard to the Pakistan Navy for the past eight months.

He used WhatsApp and Instagram to send sensitive data to an official named Riya in Pakistan.

Authorities have discovered that around ₹26,000 was deposited into Kotiya’s account from Pakistan.

Kotiya was employed at a tobacco factory in Porbandar. This arrest follows a previous major operation by Gujarat ATS, during which four individuals linked to a terrorist organisation were apprehended in the same city.

Despite strict measures at the border, drug smuggling and espionage from Pakistan prevail . ATS officials are actively working to thwart these operations and ensure the security of the region.
