Online registration in 14 state varsity commences on common admission portal
After the state government asked the 11 universities to start implementing the Common Universities Act 2023, a common portal was released for admissions.
The online admissions registration for undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD courses will commence today.
Students can log in to the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) portal to register for any course after paying a ₹300 fee for registration.
According to the GCAS portal, students can register for a total of 670 courses at 14 universities and 3,760 colleges.
Although the portal aims to make the admission process easy and secure, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has expressed concerns over the new admission portal.
As per ABVP, there’s no clear instruction for any particular department in colleges. While some state colleges had only ₹5 admission, the portal charges ₹300 for the same.
There is also an absence of help centres and nodal officers to resolve any queries regarding the online registration portal.
