One resignation follows another in the Gujarat Congress today, as three leaders have resigned from the party. Dharmesh Patel, a leader from Gujarat’s Navsari, has submitted his resignation from the party.
Patel is reportedly speculated to join the BJP tomorrow along with his supporters.
Patel has submitted his resignation to Navsari Congress President Shailesh Patel.
It is noteworthy that Patel was the party’s Navsari district general secretary and was also the president of Navsari Koli Samaj.
Patel was the Congress candidate who faced state BJP chief CR Patil in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Navsari, which ended in a defeat for the former Congress leader.
Patel has also served as the Vijalpore municipality president.
Congress leaders exiting the party
Earlier today, a former MLA from Gujarat’s Porbandar and a stalwart Congress leader, Arjun Modhwadia, resigned from his MLA post. After his resignation, Modhwadia is speculated to join the BJP and contest the Porbandar by-elections scheduled to take place later this year.
These resignations come on the same day that former MLA Ambrish Der also resigned from the party.
