Two mobile phones collectively worth ₹25,000 were allegedly stolen from a paying guest accommodation in Ahmedabad’s Vastrapur area after thieves reportedly entered the room through an open door during the early hours of Saturday.
According to Vastrapur police, the theft took place between 12.30 am and 8 am on June 14 at Shraddha Apartment near the Liberty Showroom in Vastrapur.
Meet Nitinbhai Bhalodia, 23, originally from Jamnagar district, stated that he currently resides at the PG accommodation with friends and working as a data analyst at a private company.
Bhalodia told police that he and his friend Krishna Karmur had gone to sleep in their room with the door left open during the night.
He alleged that when he woke up around 8 am, his OnePlus smartphone, valued at approximately ₹20,000, was missing from beside his pillow.
After searching the room, he woke up his friend Krishna Karmur, who also discovered that his Redmi mobile phone, valued at ₹5,000, was missing from his bed.
Despite searching the premises, the two were unable to locate the phones and suspected that an unknown thief had entered the room through the open door and stolen both devices while they were asleep.
Following which a case of theft was registered against an unidentified person with the Vastrapur Police Station.
Vastrapur Police arrested two women identified as Annuben Mangilal Nat and Pooja Kiranbhai Nat, both residents of Kaligam in Sabarmati area of the city.
Police said the stolen property linked to the offence was also recovered from their possession.

Investigators said the accused allegedly targeted PG accommodations and residential areas under the guise of begging. During questioning, police found that the women would allegedly carry cards of an “Anand Mission Ashram” and pretend to be deaf and mute in an attempt to avoid suspicion and defend themselves if confronted.
