In a bone-chilling incident that took place in Ahmedabad, a relative has been accused of raping his minor niece.

The city’s Isanpur Police swung into action after a case was filed over this horrific incident.

The accused, maternal uncle of the 16-year-old, has been nabbed and is charged with several other sections along with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The minor lived with her family in Ahmedabad’s Isanpur area while the accused who lived in the neighbouring house was from UP.

He frequently visited the minor’s house.

On one such instance in April last year, when the girl was at her home alone, he took advantage of the situation and allegedly raped the child. This happened repeatedly with her four to five times during which the minor reportedly got pregnant.

After the minor complained of severe pain, she was shifted to a hospital, and the wrongdoing was revealed to her kin.

Following this, a complaint was registered by her mother at the Isanpur police station.

The accused was found to have absconded to UP to evade action, but the police deployed a team to nab him. Following his arrest, several sections, including the POCSO Act, were levied against him.
