In a major preventive action to ensure a safe and peaceful Makar Sankranti (Uttarayan) festival, Mansa Police seized a large quantity of banned Chinese kite strings (manja), notorious for causing injuries and deaths and registered a case against the accused.

Under orders from senior Gandhinagar police officials , strict measures have been enforced across the state to ban the manufacture, sale, storage, possession, use and flying of synthetic kite strings. The ban includes non-biodegradable nylon or chemically coated strings and those with glass, metal or other harmful materials that pose serious risks to public safety.

Acting on confidential information, a police team led by Police Inspector R S Damor of Mansa Police Station conducted surveillance and a search operation in a field on the road between the Mehsana-Himmatnagar highway and Chadasana. During the raid in  Bilodra village, officers seized 960 reels of banned Chinese kite strings valued at ₹2,88,000. The accused, identified as Dalpuji Amajibhai Thakor, was not present at the site at the time of seizure.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Mansa Police Station under sections 223 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Police officials reiterated that the seizure is part of ongoing efforts to make Uttarayan festivities safe, fear-free and free from avoidable accidents, and warned that similar enforcement actions would continue throughout the festival season.
