Man, transgender booked after video of indecent act in public goes viral in Ahmedabad

The Sardarnagar police have booked two individuals — a local resident and a transgender woman from Mumbai, after a video showing them performing an obscene dance in public in Kubernagar, Ahmedabad, went viral on social media.
The police came across the video on Instagram ID @mukesh_makawana1 while monitoring social media activity on Monday morning. The clip showed a man and a transgender person dancing inappropriately in Kubernagar late at night, allegedly engaging in “obscene gestures and physical contact” in public view.
Police said the video, which quickly circulated across social media, was recorded on September 18, 2025, during the birthday celebration of Mukesh Makwana. The transgender has been identified as Saiba Ansari, a resident of Mumbai. The man in the video was identified as Mukeshbhai Vibhabhai Makwana, a resident of B-Ward, Kubernagar.
“During the course of surveillance around 11.55 am, our team found the viral video featuring a man and a transgender woman dancing indecently in public. Upon verification, the man was identified as Mukesh Makwana, while the transgender person was traced to Mumbai,” said a police officer from Sardarnagar Police Station.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mukesh had called Saiba, who is known to his brother, from Mumbai to Ahmedabad for his birthday celebration. The two allegedly performed the dance late at night near the community board in Kubernagar and later posted the video on Instagram.
Following verification, the Sardarnagar police registered a case under sections of Gujarat Police Act, obscene acts in public of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and section of the Information Technology Act for publishing or transmitting obscene material online.
“The video was not only recorded in a public place but was also shared online, which amounts to public indecency and transmission of obscene content. Both individuals have been booked and we have arrested Mukesh in the matter. Further investigation is underway.” said a Sardarnagar police officer.
