LS Polls: BJP likely to field women on two out of four remaining seats in Gujarat

Despite the announcement of the schedule for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the ruling party, BJP is still searching for the candidates to field on four seats. According to sources, two women candidates are likely to be fielded among the four. The names are likely to be announced in a day or two.
22 candidates have already been announced in Gujarat by BJP.
Mehsana is most likely to see a candidate from the Kadva Patidar community, and for that district panchayat president Trusha Patel’s name is discussed. MP Sharda Patel’s son, Anand Patel, and BJP veteran AK Patel’s son also await the candidature.
In a similar scenario, the BJP in Amreli is likely to field a Leuva Patel candidate, and for that, Bhavna Gondalia is among the frontrunners.
Former MLA Bavku Ughad, Bharat Kanabar, deputy whip Kaushik Vekaria, and Mukesh Sanghani are also the contenders in Amreli. Junagadh has the names of Gita Malam and Kirit Patel. Current MP Rajesh Chudasama is unlikely to repeat, suggested the sources.
In Surendranagar, the names in the discussion are Prakash Varmora and MP Mahendra Munjpara.
Notably, so far, the BJP has fielded Nimu Bambhania in Bhavnagar, Poonam Maadam in Jamnagar, and Dr Rekha Chaudhary in Banaskantha. BJP may field Koli or Kardiya Rajput in Surendranagar. Thus, the party is expected to field four to five women candidates in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
