BJP Candidates for Gujarat

BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) released an additional list of seven new candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat, which totalled the party’s declared candidates in the state to 22.

The BJP has included a new face in their list and dropped five sitting MPs.

Surat

The list includes Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) corporator Mukesh Dalal, a young face from the party who has replaced union minister Darshana Jardosh on the Surat Lok Sabha seat.

Bhavnagar

For Bhavnagar, the sitting MLA Hira Solanki’s, along with cabinet minister Kunvarji Bavaliya’s name surfaced for the candidature. However, former Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) mayor Nimu Bambhania has been nominated. Sitting MP Bharati Shiyal loses her candidature for this seat.

Sabarkantha

In Sabarkantha, the party has fielded the local leader and district general secretary, Bhikhaji Thakor, ignoring the candidature claims of Congress turncoat CJ Chavda and a few others.

Vadodara

Vadodara MP Ranjan Bhatt, who has been embroiled in several controversies, has been renominated.

Chhota Udaipur (ST)

Sitting MP Geeta Rathwa has been replaced by the party’s former ST Morcha president, Jasu Rathwa, from the crucial Chhota Udaipur seat.

Valsad (ST)

Current MP KC Patel’s candidature from the Valsad seat was hanging on a knife’s edge, which has been quashed by the party’s high command. He has been replaced by Dhawal Patel, the party’s national social media department in charge of the ST Morcha.

Ahmedabad East

In the Ahmedabad East seat, sitting MP Hasmukh Patel repeats his contention. Patel is set to face Rohan Gupta in Congress.

With this, the BJP has so far declared candidates for 22 out of the total 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
