Kutch breaks rainfall records for third consecutive year

With 185% of its rainfall this year, Kutch is the district with the highest rainfall in Gujarat for the third consecutive year.
This year’s average rainfall across Gujarat stands at approximately 138%, showcasing a remarkable shift in climatic trends. In the past decade, Kutch has recorded the highest rainfall at least six times since 2015.
For other districts, Valsad recorded 146 inches of rainfall, followed closely by Navsari at 109 inches and Dang with 103 inches.
Taluka-wise records showed Kharegam in Navsari achieving 146 inches and Valsad recording 139 inches, further highlighting the region’s impressive precipitation.
June saw 4.52 inches, July recorded 16.72 inches, and August contributed 17.41 inches. This is consistent with over 141 talukas in Gujarat experiencing more than 40 inches of rain, while 103 talukas recorded between 20 and 40 inches.
Seven talukas received between 10 and 20 inches, reflecting a widespread distribution of rainfall across the state.
Previously, the southern region of Gujarat was known to record heavy rainfall, but a shift in weather patterns has emerged over the past decade. Kutch, located in the western part of Gujarat, has increasingly become a hotspot for rainfall recording highest rainfall in the state region wise.
