Kshatriya agitation prevails in Gujarat, Rupala urges not to oppose PM Modi

Updated: Apr 27th, 2024

Gujarat’s Lok Sabha election is around the corner, and the flare of Kshatriya agitation refuses to settle.

It’s been over a month since BJP leader Parshottam Rupala made derogatory remarks on erstwhile kings, which drew statewide backlash for the BJP.

A series of incidents have been reported for days when Kshatriya community leaders posed trouble for BJP leaders who were campaigning for the elections.

Rupala’s request

The troublemaker BJP leader Rupala was at the epicentre of protests—Rajkot’s Jasdan.

While addressing a public meeting, Rupala again apologised, saying, “I have apologised for my mistakes in public in the past, and the community has responded as well.”

Rupala urged the Kshatriya community to remember their contribution to nation-building and the growth of the BJP.

“Why oppose Narendra Modi for my mistake?” added Rupala in his speech.

Kshatriya agitation

In Surendragar’s Lakhtar, an altercation followed between the BJP and the Kshatriya community at the BJP office on Apr 26. A huge number of people gathered from the Kshatriya community and other communities, including Muslims, in Surendranagar.

However, police intervened and detained many people during the protest.

Meanwhile, in Gandhinagar’s Palaj village, Kshatriyas from 20 villages distributed anti-BJP pamphlets.

Adding fuel to the fire, one more BJP leader, Kanti Amrutiya, remarked on the Kshatriya protest, saying, “Only a few unsatisfied Kshatriyas are protesting.”

To this, Jaydevsinh Jadeja replied that the whole community is protesting, the result of which will be seen on the polling day on May 7.
