Jharkhand man nabbed under POCSO assaulted minor earlier, reveals investigation
The man who was arrested by Bharuch police under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) has been identified as Vijay Paswan, a resident of Jharkhand. He confirmed in the preliminary investigation that he had sexually abused the girl with gruesome details of the assault.
Reportedly, the accused had also sexually abused the minor one month ago, but the family had not register a complaint. This encouraged the accused indulge in the misdeed again, and even admitted to inserting a foreign object into the minor.
Mayur Chavda, ACP (Assistant commissioner of Police) Bharuch, stated that the girl is in critical condition and going under treatment at SSG hospital in Vadodara. A special team has been formed for the investigation, after which a charge sheet will be filed.
Political stir
Following this incident, Jharkhand’s Women’s Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, Additional DG Suman Gupta, and the Director of the Social Welfare Department, Kiran Basi, have arrived in Gujarat. The minister has alleged that the Gujarat government is neglecting migrant workers from other states.
She warned that if Jharkhand laborers return to their homeland, Gujarat’s industries will face a shutdown. Notably, both the accused and the victim are natives of Jharkhand. The rape accused is a neighbor of the victim.
The minister of Department of Women, Child Development & Social Security of Jharkhand has offered an assistance of ₹4,50,000 to the minor.
