Jamnagar airport receives bomb threat email hours after Hardik Pandya leaves

Security agencies were put on high alert after Jamnagar Airport received a bomb threat via email from an unidentified sender on Tuesday.
The threat was received shortly after Indian cricket team all-rounder Hardik Pandya had departed from the airport, triggering immediate action by authorities.
Following receipt of the email, the Jamnagar Airport Authority promptly informed the local police and senior officials. Given the seriousness of the threat, District Superintendent of Police Dr Ravi Mohan Saini, DySP Jayvirsinh Zala, along with teams from the Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Special Operations Group (SOG), rushed to the airport.
As the airport operates under the control of the Indian Air Force, security concerns were treated with utmost priority.
The entire airport premises were cordoned off, and extensive search operations were launched by bomb disposal and dog squads across all areas, including the terminal building, runway and parking zones. Security checks for passengers and luggage were intensified, while entry of unauthorised individuals into the airport was completely restricted.
As a precautionary measure, emergency services including fire tenders and ambulances were kept on standby. Senior officials from the Army and Air Force were also monitoring the situation closely, with their movement at the airport increasing following the threat. Meanwhile, airport authorities, police and the cyber cell have initiated an investigation to trace the source of the threatening email.
It is noteworthy that Jamnagar Airport has received similar bomb threats in the past, including incidents involving foreign flights that later turned out to be hoaxes after thorough checks.
However, officials have stated that the present threat is being treated with full seriousness, and heightened security arrangements will remain in place until the situation is completely assessed and declared safe.
