IPS officer in trouble over fraud and harassment allegations by female lawyer
An investigation has been initiated against a high-ranking IPS officer following serious allegations of fraud and harassment by a female lawyer in Gujarat.
The probe, ordered by the Gujarat’s Home Department, is being overseen by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP).
The officer, who serves as the Superintendent of Police (SP) at Police Bhavan in Gandhinagar, was accused of involvement in a romantic relationship with the lawyer, under the false pretence of marriage.
The lawyer reportedly ended the relationship after discovering that the IPS officer was already married. However, she alleges that the officer continued to harass her, repeatedly calling and pursuing her despite her attempts to cut ties.
Key evidence, including CCTV footage, WhatsApp conversations, and audio recordings has been collected as part of the investigation.
The complaint was filed not only with the state Home Department and Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay but also escalated to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Following this, the Home Department instructed the DGP to launch an inquiry into the matter.
