Illegal Zubeda House in Juhapura bulldozed amid tight security

In a major crackdown on illegal constructions, civic authorities on Tuesday morning demolished the unauthorised Zubeda House situated on government land along the main road in Juhapura, Ahmedabad. The property, allegedly built and operated by history-sheeter Nazeer Vora, had been under the scanner for several months.
The demolition was carried out under tight police security, with senior officers deployed to prevent any law and order issues. Officials confirmed that the structure stood on approximately 20,000 square feet of encroached government land, which Vora had reportedly converted into a farmhouse.
Sources said Vora had equipped the premises with recreational amenities for children and rented it out for marriage functions and festive gatherings, turning it into a source of income. “Despite being public land, the premises were being used commercially for years,” an official said.
The site had become a prominent landmark on the Juhapura main road, often likened to a ‘gold mine’ due to its prime location. Vora had allegedly constructed illegal commercial units, including a two-storey shopping centre opposite Zubeda House, which was previously razed by authorities.
Nazeer Vora has a long criminal record, with over 29 serious offences registered against him, including charges of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, extortion, assault, and illegal land grabbing. Civic officials said this demolition is part of an ongoing drive against land mafias and unauthorised structures in the city.
“This action is a clear message that no one is above the law, irrespective of their influence or past record,” said a senior AMC official.
Further investigations are underway to identify other illegal constructions linked to Vora in the area.
