After the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, where 28 people, including three tourists from Gujarat, lost their lives, there has been a sharp rise in travel cancellations from Gujarat. Many had planned summer vacations to Kashmir and spiritual trips to the Char Dham Yatra, which was scheduled to begin in May–June.

Tour operators report a significant decline in new bookings and a surge in cancellations for tour packages to northern regions like Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Summer is typically a peak season for Gujarati tourists visiting Kashmir, but safety concerns after the recent attack have made travelers anxious. Many are now rethinking their plans, fearing they may be forced to return mid-way if tensions between India and Pakistan escalate further.

Travel agencies in Gujarat say that around 50% of bookings have already been canceled, and they are facing major business losses as a result. The uncertainty around security in the region is likely to impact tourism in the upcoming months as well.
