Gujarat’s RTO servers crash again leaving thousands of applicants stranded

RTO server down |
Technical issues have caused significant disruptions across Gujarat’s Regional Transport Offices (RTOs), as the server managed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in New Delhi went down on October 3, leaving thousands of applicants stranded.
Today, all appointments for driving tests have been cancelled, and operations remain suspended.
In Ahmedabad, all RTO gates are shut, halting driving-related services entirely. The server outage has affected approximately 500 applicants across the city’s three RTOs.
Gujarat High Court has also reprimanded the RTO on multiple occasions over similar lapses.
On October 3, the RTO server experienced another statewide outage, causing serious inconvenience to applicants. As a result, driving test tracks remain closed, and applicants have been rescheduled for appointments next week.
As there is no system in place to notify applicants via messages or other means, they waste their time and money.
Maintenance work on the test tracks has also been neglected for a long time, and the ongoing technical problems further complicate matters.
The test tracks are highly likely to remain closed on October 5, attributed to such technical faults.
Reports suggest that the NIC shut down the server without any prior notice, leaving local RTO offices only able to request applicants to reschedule their appointments.
This situation is forcing many now to pay additional fees to agents to secure new appointments.
Applicants have expressed concerns over the server breakdown, demanding that those whose driving tests were skipped today should be allowed to take the test within the upcoming week without requiring to book new appointments or incurring extra costs.
