Gujarat reports 7,278 deaths from road accidents in a year, overspeeding major cause

In just one year, Gujarat registered 7,278 deaths due to road accidents. Most of these cases were caused by overspeeding. In accident-related deaths, Gujarat ranks seventh in the country.
The slogan ‘Speed Thrills but Kills’ is written everywhere to promote road safety and encourage responsible driving, yet many people continue to overspeed and drive recklessly, putting their own lives and those of others at risk.
In Gujarat, a total of 16,349 accident cases were registered in just one year, in which 7,854 people lost their lives. Out of these, 7,278 deaths were due to overspeeding, accounting for more than 90% of the total road accident fatalities.

The Ministry of Road Transport has released a report stating that, compared to 2022, the number of accidents increased in 2023.
As per the data, in 2023, an average of 22 people lost their lives every day in Gujarat.
