Gujarat police to recruit 14,820 personnel by 2025
The Gujarat Home Department has announced plans to fill 14,820 positions in the Police department and 245 in civil staff by 2025. This decision follows the completion of direct recruitment for 12,472 positions in various categories within the state police force, managed by the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board in 2024.
Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi stated that after the current recruitment process, the department will move forward with direct recruitment within the police force. The positions to be filled include:
129 armed Police Sub-Inspectors (PSI) for the Special Reserve Police Force (SRPF)
126 Wireless PSI
35 Motor transport PSI
551 Technical Operators
45 Head Constable driver mechanic (Grade-1)
26 Motor transport supervisor (Grade-2)
135 Head Constable Drivers (Mechanic Grade-2)
Additionally, the recruitment drive will encompass other roles such as:
7,218 Unarmed Police Constables
3,010 Armed Police Constables
3,214 Armed Police Constables for the SRPF
300 Male Jail Sepoys
31 Female Jail Sepoys
Moreover, there will be direct recruitment for clerical positions in the police department, with 45 Senior Clerk and 200 Junior Clerk roles available, totalling 245 civil staff positions. This recruitment will be conducted by the Gujarat Secondary Service Selection Board.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the police force and enhancing public safety across the state, aiming to ensure a well-staffed and efficient police department by 2025.
