Gujarat Police recruitment physical tests begin on Jan 21 to fill 13,500 posts

The Gujarat Police Recruitment Board has initiated the recruitment process for 13,591 vacancies for Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and Lokrakshak cadres, with physical efficiency and measurement tests scheduled to begin on January 21, 2026.
The recruitment drive covers 858 posts in the PSI cadre and 12,733 posts in the Lokrakshak cadre. More than 10 lakh candidates have registered for the recruitment.
Candidates have been called to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) at designated grounds across 15 locations, including cities, districts, SRP groups and training centres in the state.
Physical tests for male candidates will be conducted at 11 grounds from January 21 to March 13, while tests for female and ex-servicemen candidates will be held at four grounds from January 21 to March 6.
Each test ground will be overseen by an officer of the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police or Superintendent of Police, supported by more than 90 police personnel.
In addition, senior officers of the rank of DIGP or IGP have been appointed as supervisory officers for overall monitoring.
All candidates appearing for the physical tests will undergo biometric registration, and modern technology will be used during the running events.
The testing process will be conducted under CCTV surveillance. Height and chest measurements for male candidates and height measurements for female candidates will be carried out by officials and staff from the Health Department.
A central control room has been set up at the Recruitment Board office in Gandhinagar to monitor proceedings across all test centres.
As per eligibility norms, male candidates must complete a 5,000-metre run within 25 minutes, female candidates a 1,600-metre run within 9 minutes 30 seconds, and ex-servicemen candidates a 2,400-metre run within 12 minutes 30 seconds.
The minimum height requirement for male candidates from Scheduled Tribes is 162 cm, while it is 165 cm for non-ST male candidates. Female candidates from Scheduled Tribes must have a minimum height of 150 cm, and non-ST female candidates 155 cm.
Male candidates must also meet a chest measurement requirement of at least 79 cm unexpanded and 84 cm expanded, with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.
For educational qualifications, candidates applying for the PSI cadre must hold a graduate degree or its equivalent, while those applying for the Lokrakshak cadre must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination.
