The Gujarat Police Recruitment Board (GPRB) has announced a recruitment drive in succession to reach their target of filling 25,000 posts.

The police department will fill 12,472 vacancies including that of sub-inspectors (PSIs), constables, intelligence officers, and jail sepoys, among other posts.

In a previous hearing, the Gujarat High Court had directed the state police chief to submit a detailed timeline for completing the recruitment of over 25,000 police sub-inspectors and constables in two phases by September 2025 and September 2026.

On September 27, the state government informed the HC that they were preparing a ten-year recruitment plan.

The aim of this plan is to fill the current vacancies by September 2026.

As of July 31, there are 1.28 lakh sanctioned police posts in the state, out of which over 33,000 posts are vacant.

Of these vacancies, 25,500 will be filled through direct recruitment, while 7,725 will be filled through promotions.

The recruitment process typically involves a selection process including preliminary exams, written exams, document verification, and medical tests.

The written exam covers a range of subjects like general knowledge, current affairs, psychology, history, geography, sociology, and science.
