A high alert has been issued across the country after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed lives of 28 people, including three individuals from Gujarat.

In Gujarat, the state police and security agencies have stepped up vigilance.

Major religious sites such as Ambaji, Dwarka, and Somnath temples are now under enhanced security measures. Railway stations and airports across the state are also under close surveillance.

Statewide, police have begun extensive checking operations. Suspicious individuals are being monitored closely, and additional police forces have been deployed in border areas and at sensitive locations. Vehicles on the move are being rigorously checked.

Following the terror attack, the Gujarat government has ramped up security at key religious destinations. Temples considered of high importance, including Somnath, Dwarka, Ambaji, and Pavagadh, have seen deployment of special police teams. Somnath and Dwarka, being coastal temples, have been placed under high alert. Gujarat’s three armed forces have also been put on alert, and security in the regions bordering Pakistan has been reinforced.

Banaskantha SP Aksharaj Makwana stated that since the Banaskantha district borders Pakistan, and Ambaji Temple attracts large number of devotees, security has been significantly heightened.

The Special Operations Group (SOG) and snipers have been placed on standby at the Ambaji temple. Also all devotees visiting the temple will now undergo thorough security screening.
