On the first day of Gujarat Assembly’s budget session, opposition Congress strongly protested the replacement of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) with newly proposed Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB–G RAM G) Bill by central government.

Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee organised a ‘Jan Aakrosh Sabha’ at the Gandhinagar Satyagraha Chhavni, launching a  'MGNREGA Bachao Sangram'.

The opposition leaders attacked the Gujarat and central government. During the gathering, it was also claimed that the party will start 2027 Assembly election promotions early, with Rahul Gandhi at the helm.

Former MLA Mahesh Vasava, who has recently joined the Congress, addressed the gathering and said, “We have been struggling for water, forest, and land for years. The government that has been in power at the Centre for 11 years and the government that has been in power in Gujarat for 32 years has to be uprooted and thrown away.”

“This RSS government that talks about abolishing the constitution has to be uprooted and thrown away. We have not got water from Umargam to Ambaji, but our struggle will continue. Such thugs need to be expelled from the country,” he added.

Congress MLA and youth leader Anant Patel said, “Today, we should march against injustice, unfair treatment of tribal areas and people by the ruling party, over how the officials are not ready to meet us, and how our lands are being encroached upon.”
