The Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) received intelligence about illegal telephone exchanges in Surat. Based on this information, an ATS team cracked down on the fraudsters who were converting international calls into national calls.

These illegal telephone exchanges continue to operate in Surat.

The Gujarat ATS raided a company called Home Setup and Planner Private Limited, located in Joy Hub Town, Surat.

Bhagat Singh Parmar, resident of Navsari, had obtained 500 lines in two phases using an SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) line from Jio, along with the necessary documents, including a letter from the Corporate Affairs Ministry.

Meanwhile, Sonipal Shrivastava of Sun Infrasite Private Limited, resident of Lucknow, UP, had also purchased 250 SIP lines from Jio, and installed them, using the necessary documents.

With this setup, international calls were illegally converted into local calls by Home Setup and Planner Pvt Ltd and Sun Infrasite Private Limited. This not only posed a security risk to the country, but also caused significant financial losses to the Telecom department.
