The Gujarat government has revised the rules governing gifts and souvenirs received by its top officials, including the Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, state-level ministers, and senior officials. These officials are now prohibited from accepting gifts or souvenirs valued at more than ₹5,000. Any amount exceeding this limit must be transferred to the government.

The Finance Department has updated the treasury rules after a decade. A directive issued by Deputy Secretary Bhavita Rathod states that the previous rule, which allowed ministers or officials to retain gifts valued up to ₹1,000, has been revised to raise the limit to ₹5,000. Furthermore, the limit for overseas gifts has been increased from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000.

Additionally, gifts received during foreign trips up to a value of ₹10,000 can be kept by the recipient. If the value exceeds this limit, the difference must be paid, or the gift must be deposited with the state treasury.

Gifts within these limits can be retained; otherwise, they must be deposited in the state treasury for auction.
