Fake certificates used to secure government teaching jobs in Kheda

Updated: Aug 15th, 2024

Another incident has come to light in Kheda district, Gujarat, where a number of individuals secured government teaching positions through fraudulent means.

According to reports, 23 individuals obtained teaching jobs despite never filling out applications. They allegedly managed to secure these posts by presenting forged physical fitness certificates. Additionally, 32 teachers were appointed based on fake certificates issued by the Gujarat Kabaddi Association.

Before this, 33 teachers were terminated in Jamnagar over fake certificates, while 32 were dismissed in Vadodara. However, 32 teachers in Kheda with fake certificates issued by Gujarat Kabaddi Association are still employed.

Out of 87 questionable recruits, 64 were employed in 2008 and 23 were employed as extra recruits in 2010.

In a separate incident, a teacher at a Surat Municipal Corporation school was caught red-handed for forging attendance records. Vinod Tingale, a teacher at School No. 6, Shree Visvesvaraya Nagar Primary School in Athwalines, was found to have marked his attendance despite being absent from school.

Both incidents underscore the broader issue of reckless staffing in Gujarat’s education sector. With a shortage of qualified teachers, schools often resort to hiring unqualified or under qualified individuals, creating opportunities for such irregularities and malpractices.
