Inspector of Central GST (Goods and Services Tax) and Central Excise Office, located on Customs Road in Vapi, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting a bribe of ₹40,000.

The officer had allegedly demanded the money in exchange for settling a tax notice issued to a builder.

The builder had already paid the tax but received a notice for the same period. The builder approached the GST office in Vapi and met with the inspector, Yashvant Gehlot, to discuss the issue.

During their conversation, Gehlot demanded money to resolve the notice. The bribe amount of ₹40,000 was agreed upon.

However, the builder filed a complaint with the ACB. Acting on the complaint, Valsad ACB PI S N Gohil and his team set up a trap.

On Wednesday, after the builder reached the GST office and handed over ₹40,000 to Inspector Gehlot, the ACB team caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe.
