Mehsana’s Visnagar City Police was accused of engaging in collusion with thieves as per a viral video doing rounds on social media.
A thief was nabbed red-handed by a crowd in Visnagar. The thief, who was seen tied to a tree in the video, confessed, “Visnagar police is also involved in what we steal. We give an instalment of ₹10,000-15,000 to the police every month.”
While one thief was caught, his three accomplices escaped the house after the robbery.
The incident is raising concerns regarding the law and order situation in Gujarat.
The Mehsana police have been embroiled in another controversy earlier regarding illegal call centres running freely in the villages.
