Gandhinagar's newly appointed IAS officer's WhatsApp hacked, ₹30,000 demanded from his friends

The WhatsApp account of an IAS officer, posted six months ago in Gandhinagar, was hacked, and money  was demanded from his friends. The Gandhinagar Cyber ​​Branch has launched an investigation, following a tip-off from a source.

Reports have emerged that some cyber fraudsters living in Gandhinagar hacked the WhatsApp account of an IAS officer posted six months ago and extorted money from his friends. 

Numerous messages were sent to the officer’s friends, demanding ₹30,000 from them. As soon as the IAS officer received this information, he contacted the nearby Gandhinagar police station and reported the incident. After this, the information was given to the cyber cell.​

This comes after a Congress member’s WhatsApp account was hacked in Gandhinagar, where his phone was compromised after downloading an unknown application sent by fraudsters. The hackers had also withdrawn money through online banking in the incident.
