Gandhinagar Local Crime Branch (LCB)  today arrested two  persons — Vinod and Jayendra Jhala — accused of selling Dehgam’s Juna Pahadia village..

The incident of selling of an entire village in Dehgam taluka came to light on July 13, where land brokers colluded with landowners to make a sale document for the land by presenting false evidence. A complaint was filed and investigation launched by the Gandhinagar LCB, leading to two arrests.

LCB’s Divansinh Vala, speaking on the investigation, said, “Two accused have been arrested and their remand will be sought in court. Moreover, five accused are still absconding.”

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) of Gandhinagar S M Chaudhary said, “The complaint was filed at Ahmedabad’s Rakhial police station about illegal sale of the land that covered Juna Pahadia village in Dehgam through the Sub Registrar of Dehgam.”

“Fake photos of the land were provided by the third generation of the heir and buyer, both of whom conspired to make the land deal. Among the sellers, Vinod and Jayendra Jhala have been arrested,” said Chaudhary.

According to Chaudhary, the two accused are the heirs of the names mentioned in the survey numbers of the village land. The land was bought by the villagers from these people, and was sold by the accused for financial gains.
