Four children get locked in car, die of suffocation in Amreli

Four children of a family, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, died in Randhiya village in Gujarat’s Amreli district. The victims included two girls and two boys, who suffocated inside a locked car.
On Saturday, while their parents were away for labour work, the children were playing in an unknown person’s car when the doors accidentally got locked. The kids, unable to escape, succumbed to suffocation.
According to reports, the car owner returned on Saturday evening and discovered the bodies of the children inside.
The police have registered the incident as an accidental death and have started an investigation into the matter.
What causes suffocation in cars?
Locked cars with their windows up can heat up rapidly, especially under direct sunlight, leading to dangerously high temperatures that can incapacitate individuals, particularly children.
Additionally, when car doors are locked and windows are closed, oxygen levels can deplete quickly in the confined space.
This risk is compounded by children’s vulnerability; as they may not adapt to the dangers of being left unattended and could accidentally lock themselves inside while playing.
