Police have registered a case against four individuals in connection with the suicide of 25-year-old Rishabh Patel, who was associated with the construction business in Gandhinagar. The complaint was filed by the deceased’s father, Pravinbhai Patel, at Infocity Police Station, naming all four accused.

According to the police, preliminary investigation suggests that Rishabh was subjected to mental and physical harassment over money-related disputes for nearly two to three months, which allegedly drove him to take the extreme step.

The accused are said to be acquaintances of Rishabh’s father-in-law. One of those named, Manish alias “Splendor”, has been identified as the son of former councillor Taraben Patel. Police teams are currently working to arrest all four accused.

Rishabh Patel, a resident of Shikhar Bungalows in Sughad near Gandhinagar, had got married on January 12. On January 25, he left home, stating that he was going to a construction site, but did not return. After an extensive search by family members, his car was found abandoned the following day near Bahuchar Pan Parlour on the Raipur Narmada Canal road. Jewellery, a mobile phone, cash and a suicide note were recovered from the vehicle.

On January 28, Rishabh’s body was found in the Kadi Narmada Canal, around 39 kilometres from his residence. His death, just 13 days after his marriage, has left the family in deep shock.

In the suicide note recovered by the police, Rishabh named four individuals and alleged that he had been repeatedly harassed, threatened and assaulted over financial matters. He appealed for strict legal action against those he held responsible for his death.

The statement by Rishabh declared that he was mentally sound while writing it. He alleged that he had been subjected to continuous mental harassment for the past six days by a group of people, naming a talati (village revenue official) Kalpeshbhai, Manishbhai, and others associated with real estate projects.

He claimed he was threatened, brutally assaulted in public, and intimidated, which pushed him to take this extreme step.

In an emotional message, he asked his wife Heli to stay strong and seek justice, saying he was forced to die because of the actions of these people. He also expresses anger that the matter could have been resolved peacefully but escalated due to the involvement of others.

The note includes appeals to authorities to take action, claims that such intimidation is a recurring practice by the accused, and ends with emotional messages and religious salutations addressed to his family members.

Based on the complaint and the contents of the note, police have registered a case against Kalpesh alias Talati Ambalal Patel, Manish alias Splendor Somabhai Patel, Krishal Arvindbhai alias Vikambhai Patel, and Mahipal Singh.

Infocity Police said teams from the Local Crime Branch and the Special Operations Group have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused.

Police officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and the role of each accused in the case.
