Food samples from 28 places fail lab test in Vadodara

Several surprise inspections were conducted across the city by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), which collected samples of food items from various hotels, shops, and restaurants.
Out of these, 28 samples failed the laboratory test.
The additional medical officer of health & designated officer (food safety) from VMC’s health department gave instructions to collect samples of sweets, snacks, spices, paneer, juice, cooking oil, ice cream, khoya (maava), prepared food, etc. from the city.
During the inspection, samples of raw materials were also collected from Alkapuri, Karelibaug, Makarpura, Sayajigunj, Hathikhana Market, Dandia Bazar, Chokhandi, Fatehpura, and Waghodia Road, among other areas of the city.
Out of these, 28 samples failed the laboratory tests. Of these, two samples were declared unsafe, one sample was substandard and unsafe, and 25 samples were declared substandard.
Legal action is to be taken now against all the offenders under the Food Safety Act.
