Five workers killed in Kutch while cleaning tank at agro company

A fatal accident took place in Kandla, Kutch, where five employees were killed in an agro tech company while cleaning the waste liquid tank on Tuesday night.
The incident happened at Emami Agrotech in Kandla where a supervisor, tank operator and three workers died by suffocation from a toxic gas while cleaning sludge from the tank.
Kandla Marine Police Inspector Ajitsinh Vala said that the primary investigation suggest that supervisor Sidharth Tiwari fainted in the tank after oxygen levels dropped in it.
Seeing this, tank operator Ajmat Khan also jumped into the tank to save him.
Three other workers also followed them and all five employees died due to suffocation.
The victims include supervisor Tiwari, tank operator Khan, Ashish Gupta, Ashish Kumar, and Sanjay Thakur.
Following the incident, allegations emerged claiming that the factory workers were not provided with adequate safety equipment.
According to sources, the family of the deceased refused to accept the dead bodies without compensation from the firm.
However, the company agreed on the compensation of ₹10 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
