Five held for stealing tobacco products from truck parked at CGST premises

Ellisbridge police have solved the theft of tobacco products worth ₹6.48 lakh from a truck parked at the CGST office in Ahmedabad’s Ambawadi. Five accused, working as outsourced drivers with the department, were arrested.

The accused were assigned the task of bringing the seized trucks to the CGST office. They stole the tobacco products from the truck and sold them in batches to traders.

The case was filed at the Ellisbridge police station.

PI BD Zaldia and his staff investigated the matter based on CCTV footage and technical surveillance of the office. The investigation revealed the involvement of the accused, working as drivers for several offices.

The police arrested Dilip Champalal Hans (Vasna), Shakib Ajmeri (Dariapur), Asfaq Khani (Watwa), Prashant Makwana (Gomtipur) and Prashant Chunara (Vasna).
