The Ellisbridge police registered a case where tobacco products worth ₹6.48 lakh were stolen from the trucks seized by the Central Goods and Service Tax (CGST) department from CGST’s Ambawadi premises.

On Nov 9, 2023, Kusumkumar Yadav amd his team had seized two trucks full of unaccounted tobacco products including ‘paan masala’ from Aslali Radhakrishna Estate.

A notice had been sent to the transporter and the consignee, however, when no one showed up, the products were to be auctioned off, according to the rules.

Therefore, the truck remained parked in the premises of the CGST at Ambawadi in Ahmedabad. The thieves had broken the tarpaulin of the truck and stolen the products.

Ellisbridge Police have started an investigation based on Kusumkumar's complaint.
