Five die across Gujarat in separate road accidents in Vadodara Mehsana Surat

Gujarat continues to witness accidents, with five deaths reported in the past 48 hours, raising serious questions about road safety in the state.

Kamrej catastrophe

On Sunday night, a private luxury bus from Pavan Travels left from Kamrej, Surat, en route to Ahmedabad. At 3.30 am, near Darjipura Air Force Station in Vadodara, the bus rammed a trailer from behind. Before help could arrive, Chandu Savjibhai Kumbhani (a resident of South Bopal, Ahmedabad) and Parth Kishorbhai Barwaniya (a resident of Amreli) succumbed to their injuries. Nine injured were sent to Sayaji Hospital for treatment.

Unjha accident

A luxury bus on the way to Surat from Baladra in Rajasthan collided with a truck on the Maktupur road in Unjha taluka. The driver of the bus and another person died on the spot, while 15 people were injured. The injured were admitted to a civil hospital nearby.

In Navagam, Kamrej taluka, while towing a broken-down pickup truck on National Highway No 48, the district traffic police had placed a signboard with a reflector while working. Despite that, a speeding truck hit them. 

The police vehicle, after colliding with a National Highway vehicle, hit a trailer going on the opposite track.

The pickup driver died on the spot and two policemen were injured in the incident. The truck driver fled the scene.
