Fire from blast in AC compressor kills two in Kutch's Mundra

A blast in the compressor of an air conditioner (AC) unit killed a father and daughter in Kutch’s Mundra early Tuesday morning. The flames ignited from the blast engulfed the house, and the locals had to call the fire brigade to douse the fire.

The deceased were identified as Ravi Rai, 41, and his daughter Janvi, 2. At the same time, Ravi’s wife, Kavita, was critically injured and was shifted to a nearby hospital.

So far, the reason for the blast in the compressor has not been determined, and the bodies have been sent for autopsy. The police are conducting further investigation.

• Before installing the AC, check its power capacity and the power load of your home or office

• Do not run AC without a stabilizer

• Get AC serviced before summer

• If the AC makes any noise or sparks, get it checked immediately

• Do not place curtains near the AC

• Do not run AC continuously, and turn it off for a while after running for 3-4 hours
