Family of four contest Chhotaudepur civic polls only one wins

Chhotaudepur witnessed a unique electoral battle as a family of four contested the municipal elections from different political affiliations.

While Haji Farooq Mohammad Foda, a candidate from ward no 6 of Chhotaudepur Municipality won for the seventh time, his family faced defeat from separate parties.

Foda had filed his nomination from the Bharat Nirman Manch, whereas his wife Sabera is contesting as an independent candidate. Meanwhile, their elder son Arif is running from ward no 3 on a BJP ticket, and the younger son Ramzan is contesting from ward no 4 under the Congress banner.

Foda won with 1,237 votes on his name, while his wife got 58 votes. Arif, contesting on BJP’s ticket faced defeat with 557 votes in ward no 3 and Ramzan from Congress got defeated after getting 396 votes in ward no 4.

Foda has been a six-term municipal corporator in Chhotaudepur Municipality and now he has smashed the record after winning for the seventh time.

In the same Municipality election, a candidate in ward No 5, Mufis Sheikh of Samajwadi Party secured victory by just one vote.
