An employee working at a gold shop in Ahmedabad’s Ratanpole ran away with two kilograms of refined gold worth ₹1.30 crore when he was sent by the shop owner to get the accuracy checked.

A Kankaria-based businessman in the city filed a complaint against one of his employees, accusing him of running away with the gold the accused was given to get checked for accuracy.

According to the complaint, the accused, who lived in Ghatlodia and worked at the shop for over 10 years, switched off his mobile phone and was nowhere to be found after two hours of leaving the shop.

The Kalupur police have registered a case regarding this incident and are conducting further investigation.

The complaint states that since the accused was a long-term employee at the shop, he was trusted with all the tasks related to business. The owner also trusted him with money-related matters, and he was paid 5% of the commissions on the gold sales, too.
