Eight officers promoted to IPS to tackle Gujarat Police Force staff shortage
In order to fill up the staff shortage of officers in the Gujarat Police Force, the Central Government has ordered eight officers to be promoted in the Indian Police Service (IPS) on a probation basis. All these police officers will be included in the Gujarat cadre.
Eight officers of the Gujarat Police Service have been appointed to the (IPS) on probation in exercise of the powers conferred by the Indian Police Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954. As per cadre rules, all these have been approved for Gujarat cadre allotment. In the selection committee meeting of UPSC held on Mar 28, the list of 2021 and 2022 cadre was prepared.
As per the order of the union ministry of home affairs, Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, Baldev Desai, Gaurav Jasani, Imtiaz Sheikh, Baldevsinh Vaghela, and Lakhdhirsinh Zala were promoted as IPS in Select List 2021 and Naresh Kanjaria, and Falguni Patel were promoted as IPS in Select List 2022.
With a shortage of IPS officers in the state and pending transfers of police during the Lok Sabha elections, this move by the Center will lead to the posting of these officers against vacancies and additional charges in the police. At present, these officers will have to undergo training on a probation period of one year and after that, they will be posted accordingly.
