DRI nabs four with drugs worth ₹168 cr in Gujarat’s border district

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) busted 12 kg of Mephedrone worth ₹168 crore in MP’s Jhabua, a border district to Gujarat.

Acting on an intelligence, officers of the DRI busted a factory which was engaged in the illegal manufacture of Mephedrone (a psychotropic substance under NDPS Act, 1985) located in the Industrial Area of Meghnagar,  Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh in the early hours of October 12.

A total of 112 kg of drugs was seized including 36 kg of Mephedrone in powder form and 76 kg of liquid Mephedrone, worth ₹168 crore, and other raw materials and equipment.

The factory, which was being illegally used for the manufacture of drugs, was also sealed.

The DRI arrested four individuals, including Vijay Rathod (resident of Vadodara), Ratan Nalvaya, Vaibhav Nalvaya, and Ramesh Basi.

The seized samples were sent to the Forensics Science Laboratory for preliminary testing which later confirmed the presence of Mephedrone.

Notably, on Sunday, cocaine worth ₹5,000 crore was seized at a factory in Ankleshwar GIDC in Gujarat.
